duo en vitrine (2021)

Inspired by the creation Duo en morceaux, five directors present a 20-minute short piece in which a couple is separated by a shop window. The Théâtre I.N.K. team will be in residence for a week at a performance venue to create a work based on the available stage space. The dramaturgical and sound frameworks of the performances are inspired by testimonials of the beginnings of love stories told by citizens who may or may not frequent the performance venue. This project was strongly inspired by the new collective reality imposed by COVID-19, namely physical distancing for everyone. For months, we missed each other: the elderly saw little or none of their loved ones, lovers struggled to meet, people could only see each other through windows or patio doors, families were scattered, singles remained single for a long time, etc. Everyone needs physical closeness, and even if the possibilities for doing so vary according to public health recommendations, there are still restrictions that constrain and create barriers. This gave rise to the idea of creating works based on this “impossibility” by using the windows facing the outside of exhibition venues as a physical constraint on couples.
